We Three Trees is a song that the school music director of Westmore Middle School, Mrs. Norton, wrote for the school production of "The Wizard of Oz".

History[]

Diary of a Wimpy Kid[]

At one tryout, Mrs Norton announced that everyone would have a singing part meaning that the trees will have to sing We Three Trees much to Greg Heffley's displeasure. But he is convinced that his older brother, Rodrick Heffley wouldn't be there to witness Greg's performance.[1]

But at the play, Greg is shocked to find Rodrick in the audience holding up a video camera.[2] As the other trees starts singing the song, Greg choses not to, realizing Rodrick wouldn't be able to record him if he doesn't sing. The other trees notices Greg standing there and believing that he knew something, they follow his footsteps. With the trees standing there, Mrs. Norton whispered the rest of the lyrics from the side thinking that they forgot the song however it proved to be the downfall of the play.[3]

Lyrics[]

Online book[]

We three trees from Yonder Glen

Do spy a maiden fair and sweet

Whlist we are rooted to our spots,

She doth move on lighter feet

(The rest of the lyrics are unknown to the reader)

Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2010 film)[]

We three trees from Yonder Glen,

Do spy a fair and sweet maiden.

Whilst we are rooted to our spots,

In silver slippers she does trot.

Down the winding yellow road,

Does she know to where it goes?

With her dog so small and true,

We hope she fares well, yes we do!

We three trees from Yonder Glen...

Wish her joy through journey's end.
