A Watercress salad (known as Watercrest salad in the online book) is the only dish that Grandpa Heffley knows how to make. It is a uncooked bowl of watercress, green beans, and other green vegetables floating in a pool of vinegar. It makes an appearance in Rodrick Rules.
History[]
When Greg Heffley and Rodrick Heffley had to stay at their grandfather's condo after they were caught hosting a party, Grandpa makes them watercress salads for dinner. Rodrick knows how much Greg hates watercress salads and makes sure to fill Greg's plate up. But Greg decides to force himself into cleaning up his plate to not hurt Grandpa's feelings. As a reward Greg gets another full plate of watercress salads. But this time Greg decides to stuff his pocket with watercress salad to avoid having to eat it. He thinks it was kind of gross because of the vinegar dripping out but it was a lot better than having to eat it.[1]
