The Boy Whose Family Thinks He's a DOG (stylized The Boy whose family thinks he's a DOG in the online book) was a comedy skit written by Greg Heffley for Plainview's Most Talented which stars Rowley Jefferson as Dog-Boy in Rodrick Rules and the online book but was scrapped due to the negative reaction from Rowley.
History[]
Rodrick Rules[]
Greg created the sketch for the Talent Show but mainly so he could get closer to Holly Hills. Throughout the sketch, the mom and dad would treat Dog-Boy as a dog while Dog-Boy repeatedly tells them that he's a human being. This includes them complimenting Dog-Boy for standing up on his hind legs, yelling at him for sitting on their couch, and forbidding Dog-Boy on their romantic vacation. When Greg showed the script to Rowley, he immediately rejected it due to how he was portrayed.[1]
Online[]
When Ann Heffley gives Greg a camera, he immediately comes up with a script to film. The script's main idea is unchanged however the panels are placed in a different order than the ones in Rodrick Rules and Robert Jefferson and Linda Jefferson replaces Greg and Holly. There is also an additional panel that makes fun of Rowley's weight where Linda's cousin asks her if the "dog" was pregnant and the romantic vacation was replaced with a trip to Disney World. The next day, Greg rewrites the script and tries to show it Rowley but he refuses. [2]
