These individuals are what Greg Heffley refers to as “shower guys”. As the name implies, they are a group of people who uses the shower room in public locations like Plainview Municipal Pool in Dog Days and a different group at Campers' Eden in The Deep End.

History[]

Dog Days[]

The addition of a shower area in the locker room made Greg swore that he will never go back to the town pool again, saying that it was one of the most traumatic experiences of his life the first time he went through. He wishes Susan Heffley would stop demanding him to go to the town pool because he's trying to forget about the whole experience.[1]

Later in the book Greg did not look forward to Fourth of July because Susan makes the whole family go to the town pool. Greg went through the locker room as swiftly as possible but the shower guys were trying to start a conversation with him which didn't make things easy for Greg.

Greg ends up having to see them again because Susan made him get her sunglasses that she left in the car. Greg puts on Susan's sunglasses in the hopes the shower guys would know that he wasn't interested in a conversation however it didn't worked out. Greg wished these guys would take a shower at home instead because he couldn't look at them the same way again.[2]

When Greg took Manny Heffley in the locker room, Manny went into the shower area in the two seconds Greg didn't kept his eyes on him. Greg went in and got him out but not without suffering an experience that he'll never recover.[3]

Greg swims away from one of the shower guys in Susan's album.[4]

The Deep End[]

Another group of shower guys make an appearance in The Deep End, and they are just as chatty.
