“ | Hey! Rowley Jefferson, is that you?" "Yes, Mrs. Irvine! |
” |
— Mrs. Irvine and Greg |
Mrs. Irvine is a friend of Linda Jefferson who appears in Diary of a Wimpy Kid. She is played by Karin Konoval in the book's film adaptation. According to the online book, she resides on Moody Street.[1]
History[]
Diary of a Wimpy Kid[]
In the book, she sees Greg Heffley on Safety Patrol duty, chasing some kindergartners with a worm and mistakes him for Rowley Jefferson, as he was borrowing his coat. She yells at him from her front porch and says that the principal will hear about his behavior which Greg didn't bother to clarify.[2][3]
When Greg later confesses to Rowley, he lists a lesson they both can learn which for Greg was: being more careful in front of Mrs. Irvine's house.[4][5]
Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2010 film)[]
In the movie, Greg forces the kindergartners to hide with him in a ditch after he thinks he saw the truck of the teenagers who ambushed him on Halloween driving by and persuades the kindergarteners to go in by talking about flesh-eating aliens. Similarly to the book, she thought it was Rowley as Greg was wearing Rowley's raincoat and Greg acknowledges that he is Rowley. When Mrs. Irvine attempts to confront him, Greg makes a run for it. After she finds the kindergartners, one of them asks "Are you going to eat us?," likely because of her green facial mask giving the appearance of an alien. Off-screen, she tells Mr. Winsky about Rowley "terrorizing the kids," having Rowley framed for Greg's misdeed.
Trivia[]
- Karin Konoval and Kinua McWatt, who acted as one of the kindergartners, also acted together in the film adaptation of Dog Days.
