Maple Batalia (March 4, 1992 - September 28, 2011) was an Indian-Canadian actress who appeared in the film adaptation of film adaptation of Rodrick Rules as Melissa, the girl who Rodrick had a crush on. She was an aspiring model and actress.

Birth[]
Maple Batalia was born in Mumbai, India. She and her family moved to Canada when she was an infant.
Death[]
On September 28, 2011, Batalia was shot and killed outside her school campus by her ex-boyfriend, Gurjinder Dhaliwal.[1]

Ex-Boyfriend Arrestment[]
Dhaliwal was sentenced to 21 years to life in prison.[2] Gurjinder Dhaliwal will not be eligible for parole until 2032. Dhaliwal's accomplice, Gursimar Bedi whose role in the murder was to follow Batalia and help Dhaliwal to flee the scene of Batalia's murder as well as to provide a false alibi for Dhaliwal was charged as an accessory to murder and sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment.
