Lords of the Ring is a film about wrestling that Rodrick Heffley mistakenly borrows for his summer book report.
In The Long Haul, Rodrick Heffley is assigned a summer book report, which includes reading several books, including "The Lord of the Rings." However, instead of reading the books, Rodrick decides to take a shortcut and rents movie versions of the books instead. In his haste, he mistakenly borrows the movie "Lords of the Ring" instead of "The Lord of the Rings."
Rodrick watches "Lords of the Ring" twice and is thoroughly impressed by the movie. He excitedly tells his father that the filmmaker must be a genius, likely due to the action and excitement portrayed in the wrestling-themed movie. However, Greg Heffley can't help but think that their teacher will be very confused when they read Rodrick's book report in September, as it will likely have nothing to do with the actual content of "The Lord of the Rings."
