The Löded Diper van is the iconic vehicle that Rodrick Heffley drives throughout the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. It has Rodrick's band livery, and Löded Diper on the sliding doors. Because of Rodrick hauling band equipments in the van, there are no back seats. In the online book, it is owned by Bill Walter.
History[]
Diary of a Wimpy Kid[]
The van was introduced on page 30 in which Greg Heffley believes Rodrick unintentionally misspelled the band's name that is on the van.[1]
Rodrick Rules[]
Rodrick picks Greg up from swim practice in his van and always makes him sit in the back. Greg is force to endure the band equipment flying like projectiles every time the van comes to a stop. Greg decided it was better to walk the 2 miles than risking injuries from riding in the van.[2]
Susan started to make Rodrick pick Greg up after school and so Greg asked Rodrick to be easy on the brakes. But Rodrick went to every speed bump in town and was called a “jerk” by Greg after he got out of the van.[3]
Frank is unthrilled to be forced to ride in the Löded Diper van with Bill because Rodrick was storing his instruments in Susan's car. This becomes especially apparent when Frank encounters people that he know.[4]
Diper Överlöde[]
The van was rear-ended which broke its back doors, meaning the band doesn't have a reliable way to transport their equipment. Rodrick looked into replacing the doors but he was told that it was gonna cost him more than what the van is worth. This encouraged the whole band to participate in the Hands on a Van contest to try and replace the van.[5]
Later in the book, Rodrick made Greg, Ward, and Drew's brother load the band's equipment to the van. But the effort was hard because Rodrick still hadn't gotten the back doors fixed.[6]
Online[]
Bill's ownership of the van was one of the reasons why he was invited to the band as it provide transportation if they have a show to perform.[7]
