Kenny Keith is a boy on Greg Heffley's Rec League soccer team. He appears in The Last Straw and the online book. In the latter version, he is the son of the soccer coach, Mr. Keith, who is the online version of Mr. Litch.

History[]

The Last Straw[]

When Kenny, Greg, and Erick Bickford are sitting in Mr. Litch's car before he is to drive them home, Kenny pranks him by laying on the car horn for three seconds, then jumping back into his seat so that it appears that Greg, who is closer, is the one who honked the horn. He and Erick direct their frustration at Greg when Mr. Litch runs several errands during the drive and makes them arrive home late.

Online[]

He honks the car horn as he did in the books and becomes angry at Greg when his father takes a long time getting home, which makes him miss his favorite TV show.[1]

Kenny Keith has an expanded role where he repeatedly harasses Greg due to the soccer incident where Greg cost the game. Kenny still holds that grudge on Greg as he and his gang would repeatedly ask Greg if he wants to “practice” wrestling every 3 minutes despite being near recess monitors.[2]

He occupies Leon Ricket's role from the books, where he bothers Greg in detention by giving him wet willies whenever the detention moderator isn't looking. After Greg pretends to be hit by him, he receives two extra weeks of detention.[3] Greg expresses gratitude that he didn't receive detention again as he described facing Kenny again would be like a death sentence.[4]

During Kenny Keith's last 10 detentions, Greg is persuaded to join the Safety Patrol in order to avoid further bully from him.[5]

When Kenny and his friends see Greg stuck over a river, Kenny pretends to help him (thinking that Greg is still in Safety Patrol) but he grabs Greg by the legs, causing him to fall in the river.[6]

Greg also notes that he won "Most Athletic" in the school yearbook.
