The Hot Iron Incident is an incident mentioned in Hard Luck. It was all when Aunt Cakey was once babysitting Greg. When he was set to bed, Aunt Cakey warned him, "Whatever you do, don't go downstairs and touch the iron." Greg said that the idea of touching the iron never could've entered his mind, but it did. So he sneaked downstairs. Aunt Cakey was watching TV, and the only known quote from it is, "Congratulations, Marlene, you've just won a brand-new toaster oven!". He managed to reach his destination, so he used the little stool Susan uses to reach high locations, and he pressed his whole hand on the iron.
In the journal, he wrote "Don't ask me WHAT I was thinking." He says he got a second-degree burn, and Susan never trusted Aunt Cakey to babysit again, which Greg thinks is just fine with HER.
