The High Flyers Club is an exclusive club at Larry Mack Junior Middle School, somewhat like an Airline Frequent Flyer Program, that recompenses students who get straight As. Once students get accepted into the program, they get more benefits, the better they do at school. It appears in No Brainer.
The High Flyers Club comes with various different benefits such as preferred seating in classrooms which is an issue for others as there is less space for them. Since there is barely any room in Geometry, they had to remove an entire row for the High Flyer students, forcing Greg to have to work on the heater. Added perks include refreshments during class and being allowed to use the teacher’s lounge which the staff aren’t too keen about. Members also get in return, their own entrance at school allowing them to cruise through security in the morning and their own passes to leave five minutes early. Despite the High Flyers club being introduced to encourage students to achieve better grades, it only furthers cheating and the school has to bring in Clarence”Cheater” Cluster to stop it.[1]
When Mr. Bottoms starts incentivising ways to earn money, he adds a new Platinum tier to the High Flyers club costing a membership fee of $12:99 a month to join. Greg tries to persuade his parents to pay for it but they refuse to unless he gives up his monthly video game subscription. Greg feels like reconsidering as the perks are superior with students receiving leather recliners, premium snacks and passes to let them leave class whenever they want. In the cafeteria, they can also use their passes to skip lines which is frustrating for everyone else and they receive their own seating station with personalised table service. Along with the regular students, the platinum tier is also starting to receive resentment from the staff as they are more spoilt and get to voluntarily use their lounge any time they want.[2]
After Pampered Loungewear sponsored the teacher’s lounge and provided it with luxury robes and slippers, the platinum members avoid going to class entirely.[3]
