Gunther is a headless body who converted himself into the Headless Horseman after suffering a distressing rejection from his girlfriend Prudence. He was Anders best friend and he appears in Rowley Jefferson's Awesome Friendly Spooky Stories.[1]
Gunther encounters Anders while he was looking for an empty table and he quickly invites him to his. They both quickly became friends as they were currently struggling with similar issues and they both assisted each other out at school. Around February, everyone was getting hyped about the big valentines dance but Gunther and Anders were too timid to ask anyone out and shortly after, everybody was paired up.
That all changed when a girl called Prudence switched schools and the guys who were already paired up, were starting to rue doing it. Anders and Gunter were anxious at first but ultimately decided to team up to convince her to go to the dance with them. After rehearsing asking her out multiple times in front of a mirror, they managed to convince her to go out with them by purchasing a bouquet of flowers for her. During the night of the dance, everything was going smoothly until Gunther and Anders initiated a conga line which resulted in them revealing that they were two people. Prudence was irritated at the guys for not being honest but she quickly forgave them after Anders apologised.
After the dance, something changed between Gunther and Anders as they both started acting out at each other for Prudence's attention. Eventually, Anders started to miss his friendship with Gunther and so he allowed him to ask her out to continue their friendship. However Prudence ultimately rejected his offer and Gunther was left devastated. He never recovered from his distress and he ultimately converted himself into the Headless Horseman who terrorises young couples on Valentines Day.
