This fish is a colorful angelfish that Greg Heffley bought at the pet store in Plainview Mall in Dog Days and the online book. Greg kept track of all of its activity in a diary.
History
Dog Days
Susan Heffley took the boys to the mall mainly to get Greg a makeup gift from the disaster from his birthday despite Susan allowing Rodrick and Manny Heffley to pick something out. They stopped at the pet store where Greg bought a colorful angelfish.[1]
In the next few days, Greg feeds his fish three times a day and regularly cleans his bowl. He even records its activities in a journal but admits having trouble filling up the pages. Greg asks Susan and Frank Heffley if they could buy an aquarium and a ton of fish to keep his fish company but Frank told him that aquariums are expensive and he'll only be able to get one for Christmas.[2]
Before the Heffley's left on for their trip, Susan thought Rodrick's algae-covered bowel that's holding his piranha-fish was gross and dumps the fish into Greg's bowl. During their trip, Rodrick's piranha eats Greg's angelfish.[3]
Online
In the online book, it lives in a fish tank with Rodrick's piranha and Manny's goldfish.[4]
At some point, its eyes was attacked by Rodrick's fish. Because of this, it was too blind to eat, even with Greg's guidance. Greg moves the tank over to the kitchen table and keeps an eye on Rodrick's fish to make sure he doesn’t do anything to his fish. But Frank complained that he couldn't eat while the angelfish was missing both eyes.[5]
Rodrick's fish ate Greg's angelfish the second Ann moved the tank to the garage.[6]
Trivia
- In Diary of a Wimpy Kid Online, Rodrick's Fish eats Greg's Angelfish's eye, but in the book, Rodrick's Fish eats Greg's Angelfish whole.
- In the book version, Greg's Angelfish resembles a real life freshwater Angelfish, but in Diary of a Wimpy Kid Online, Greg's Angelfish resembles more like a Saltwater Angelfish.
- This is one of two pets Greg has owned who died, the other being Squirm the Worm.
