Mr. Shropsharp (known as Mr. Lockerman in the online book) is a fictional character Greg Heffley writes about in the story Wise Up, Mr. Shropsharp!. He appears in The Last Straw.
History[]
The Last Straw[]
In the story, Mr. Shropsharp is a man who had lots of crazy thoughts, including polar bears are useless. One day, he takes a ride in his car and falls off a bridge into a river, where he is saved by a polar bear named Tobuk that was sitting on a nearby iceberg. He learns that not every polar bear is so useless after all.
Online[]
In the online book, he believes that eskimos are useless instead and is rescued by an eskimos who is paddling by in his kayak.[1]
Trivia[]
- Greg writes about Mr. Shropsharp when his mother tells him to write a story after he tells her that he thinks the books she reads to Manny Heffley are easy to come up with.
- The part about driving off of a bridge may be inspired by Frank Heffley's gephyrophobia, or fear of crossing bridges.
- The change from an Inuit to a polar bear is very likely because of racial implications.
