Joshie is a European pop singer and Rowley's idol who appears early on in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. He promotes good values, notably respecting your parents and following your dreams. While Rowley Jefferson is a notable fan of the singer, Greg is confident that most of his fans are 6-8 year-old girls. Joshie seems to be a pretty popular singer having a great deal of merch such as posters, bikes and plushies.

History[]

Rodrick Rules[]

Rowley got into Joshie during his trip to Europe, coming back with bags filled with Joshie CDs and posters. Greg took one glance at the singer and told Rowley that he was for six-year-old girls. Rowley doesn't believe Greg claiming that he was jealous because he was the one who "discovered" Joshie. Joshie becomes Rowley's new hero and if Greg criticizes him he gets super defensive.[1]

The Last Straw[]

Greg invites Rowley to come with him to a roller-skating rink and he dresses up just like Joshie for the occasion.[2]

The Ugly Truth[]

Greg hears Rowley tell someone he was going to rock concert and is envious about it since he hasn't been to a real one himself. But when he found out that Joshie was the one performing he was glad he wasn't invited.[3]

The Long Haul[]

Rowley has a Joshie poster, signed by the singer himself, pinned on a bulletin board in his room.[4]

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical[]

Joshie is a major character in the Musical, with him first being mentioned in the "Joshie Says" song. Directly after Intermission, Joshie himself appears, with the stage set as if it were a concert, and sings his song "Animal Heart", which is later revealed to be a dream sequence. After Greg wakes up, Rowley appears from behind his bed dressed in a Joshie costume, and starts singing. Eventually, the whole cast joins in. Joshie is later mentioned three times, by Chirag and Rowley when they are arranging a sleepover, and in the songs "Dear Diary" and the final reprise of "The Middle of It All".

Rodrick Rüles (2022 film)[]

Rowley hangs up a poster of Joshie for Rodrick Heffley's party. But Rodrick Heffley displays condemn of the European singer so Greg covers it up with a Löded Diper poster.[5]

Do-It-Yourself Book[]

In the Joshie comic in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid Do-It-Yourself book, Joshie sings a song called "Children of the World" which can be bought for $3.99. It seems to be about letting parents do their bidding. And there is another single called "2 Tough 2 Be Mean" mentioned in the same comic.

He also has a ringtone available for $2.99. There is also a Joshie talking-doll which says the quotes "Respect your parents and follow your dreams!", "Don't use words that hurt!", "Super Cool!", "Fist Punch!", "Foot Kick!" and "Be Nice!" The doll can be put in different poses and you can buy clothes for it. There are also plushies for the figures Poor Attitude and Disrespect.

  • He can be seen in a flashback in The Long Haul.
  • Wimpy Wonderland shows that there is a Joshie Fan Club, which Rowley is a member of.
  • It is unknown what European country is he from, but he may be from the northern part of Europe judging by his appearance.
  • Strangely enough, his biggest role in any Wimpy Kid media was in the musical, where he was played by Keegam Robinson.
  • Joshie could possibly be a reference to Justin Bieber, giving that they both share a huge fanbase (mostly girls) and are widely famous.
    • Joshie is referred to as "Bieber times infinity" in a demo for the Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical song "Joshie Says", although this line is replaced in the final version.
  • In the Musical, Chirag is shown to be a fan of Joshie, although he may have just been trying to get along with Rowley.
