Trista is a minor character in the third and fourth books. She is a girl who moves onto Surrey Street around the beginning of summer at the end of The Last Straw. She also appears in Dog Days and the online book and makes a cameo appearance in Cabin Fever.
History[]
The Last Straw[]
Near the end of The Last Straw, as Greg Heffley and Rowley Jefferson are sitting on the curb with popsicles, Trista walks up to them and introduces herself, telling them that she has just moved into the neighborhood. Greg, who instantly has a crush on her, notices that Rowley looks like he feels the same way. Greg initially plans to knock out Rowley in order to eliminate the competition for Trista, but then thinks of a better plan. Greg decides to use the fact that Rowley's family is in a country club to his advantage by having Rowley invite him and Trista to the country club and using Rowley as their servant.
Dog Days[]
After Greg and Rowley arrived at the country club with her, she met a lifeguard and hangs out with him, completely ignoring the two guys who invited her.[1] This ends Greg's attraction to her, as he is no longer interested in her.
Cabin Fever[]
Trista is present in Greg's class when Vice Principal Roy calls Greg to his office.
Online[]
Trista plays the same role she did in The Last Straw. In this version of the story, she moves into Chirag Gupta's old home and states that she is from New Mexico. However, it is not revealed what happened after this in the Online version, because this scene takes place at the very end, and it could be possible that in this version, she possibly became a good friend or possibly girlfriend of Greg.
Trivia[]
- Given estimates made based off of illustrations of her, Trista is most likely between 4' 8" (139.7cm) and 4' 9" (144.78 cm) tall. However, this is entirely conjecture, as her height has never been stated definitively within the series.
- Rumors stated that Trista would be Greg's girlfriend in The Ugly Truth, but these were false, and she didn't even appear in the book.
- While Trista never appears again after Cabin Fever, Greg imagines a girl who resembles her named Trisha dumping him on a magazine cover in Diper Överlöde. It is unclear if this is meant to reference Trista or not.
