Eduardo Malone in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid film

Coach Eduardo Malone is the gym teacher at Westmore Middle School in the first three films in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. He serves as the film replacement for Mr. Underwood from the books.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2010 film)[]

Coach Malone makes the class play a game which he calls 'gladiator'. Coach Malone later appears at the end of the movie when Pete Hosey and his friends are about to make Greg eat the Cheese, despite Greg having a dairy allergy. They stop when they hear Coach Malone asking them what they're doing on school property; Pete and his friends run away, and Coach Malone calls out “Pete Hosey, is that you?” in surprise.

Rodrick Rules (2011 film)[]

Coach Malone was seen walking by Greg who was shocked that Holly called him Fregley which Malone respond with an ouch.

When Greg and Rodrick put fake vomit on people's cars. They put it on Coach Malone's car (not knowing it was his) and when Coach Malone sees it, he drops all his stuff. The Coach chases Greg and Rodrick, but they escape into the mall and put their hoodies on two mannequins. When Coach Malone enters the mall, he tackles the two mannequins, thinking they are Greg and Rodrick. As Coach Malone lies on the floor with the broken mannequins while Greg and Rodrick escape.

Dog Days (2012 film)[]

When Greg and Rowley try to phone Holly, they call Malone's number instead, though he doesn't recognize Greg when he speaks.

  • Coach Malone is one of a few characters to appear exclusively in films, as he only plays a role in the first three Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies.
  • According to the lyrics of the extended version of Exploded Diper, he apparently hates Löded Diper, just like Frank.
  • In the Rodrick Rules movie, the phrase "You can't outrun me! I'm a superstar!" "Everywhere you go, it's me!" when he is chasing Greg and Rodrick is possibly referencing the wrestler John Cena.
  • In the Dog Days movie, Coach Malone's phone number is shown to be 555-4229.
