In the online book, Frank Heffley and Susan Heffley gave Rodrick Heffley some money for his prom, but Rodrick spent it on an arm tattoo with the name of his band written on it instead. In the book, it is not mentioned; the money was instead originally for books to help Rodrick study for his SATs.
