The Champions Swim Meet is an event organized by the Swim team with the aim of making inept swimmers feel like their winners. The event makes its only appearance in Dog Days.

During the events before Rodrick Rules, Greg Heffley was invited to the event and when he showed up he recognized that none of the talented swimmers had turned up. He was happy about that because he thought he might triumph for once but even with that he still did awful. Greg's event was the 100-meter freestyle and he got so worn out during it that he had to walk the last lap. Despite that Greg still didn't get disqualified and earnt a first-place ribbon along with everyone else regardless of their performance. This even included Tommy Lam who got turned around during the backstroke and swam in the wrong direction.

Later at home, Greg learns from Rodrick Heffley the swim meets goal of making everyone feel like winner. Greg thinks the parents' mentality of creating that experience for their kids will only cause more issues down the road as they are eventually going to have to grow up and tolerate the real world.[1]
