Barry Grossman (known as Barty Melman in the online book) is an elderly man who lives in Leisure Towers. Though his silhouette appears in Rodrick Rules and the online book, his appearance is seen in Rodrick Rules (2022 film).

When Greg Heffley and Rodrick Heffley stayed at their grandfather's apartment in Leisure Towers, Greg sits down and watches TV with him, despite the channel always being tuned to the security camera in the front lobby. When Barry Grossman appears on-screen, Grandpa Heffley remarks that he has the time to go for a three-hour walk but doesn't have time to return his vacuum.[1]
